Obsolete, no longer receiving security updates, because all devices that supported iOS 14 support 15 as well. IOS 14 at the Wayback Machine (archived September 13, 2021)

I'll be back next week once iOS 14.Proprietary software with open-source components Your favorite app might not behave right or your device could stop working entirely (unlikely, but it's happened). Just keep in mind that betas don't have stability guarantees. You'll get to test out future features and see what's coming before anyone else. Usually developers get their hands on the very first release and it's opened to public testing with the second or third release.īut even as iOS 15 starts up, the iOS 14 beta program will still be kicking, with developers splitting time between versions to fix bugs and get things ready for the late summer/early fall release.Īt any rate, now is a great time to dive into the Apple Beta Software Program. The public beta could start the same week as WWDC but it's not likely. iOS 15 will be revealed at WWDC in less than a month and developers will be able to start testing on or around June 7. Then it'll be off to iOS 14.7!Īs far as what will be in these late betas (by my estimation we should see at least two more iOS 14 beta cycles), it's anyone's guess. With new iPad Pro devices shipping this week for release on Friday, it's likely that the general public will see iOS 14.6 sometime between Tuesday and Thursday. Anyone who's ever developed, well, anything, could tell you that no product is ever perfect.Īs always, if you find a bug in the release candidate that snuck past the devs in Cupertino, report it with the Feedback app! What's Next? Not a huge list, but it's always good to see a few bug fixes in a release. While we only saw one or two of these noted during the beta, the release candidate notes have even more. There are actually a few fixes in iOS 14.6 that will be welcome news to the general public. It's a great way to get your device back to a solid release but not leave the beta program. Once the release candidate has been installed, iOS will ask if you want to remove the beta profile from your device. If you have a beta profile on your iDevice when there's a release candidate available you'll now have the option of installing it and retaining your public beta profile. If you tap an AirTag in Lost mode with an NFC device, you'll see the partially masked phone number of the owner.

You can now enter an email address or a phone number when enabling lost mode on your Apple AirTags. The icon for the Apple TV Siri remote has been updated to the new version (just in time for Friday's release).Voice Control users can unlock their device with their voice upon restart.

You can now subscribe to channels as well as individual shows in the Podcasts app.
